Anna Geary, Captain of the Cork Senior Ladies Camogie Team and Briege
Corkery, Captain of the Cork Senior Ladies Football Team received Cork
Persons of the Month Awards to mark their All-Ireland wins this year. The
girls’ names now go forward, together with the other Persons of Month
chosen this year, for possible selection as Persons of Year at a Gala
Awards Lunch on January 16th next.
Dual Player Briege Corkery, and past Texaco Player of the Year, played in
every minute of Cork’s nine football All-Ireland wins over the past ten
years. She also holds five camogie All-Ireland medals, and back in 2005
was named national female sports person of the year.
Anna Geary is a winner of four All-Star awards, most recently in 2011. She
also holds four All-Ireland camogie medals with Cork, and captained this
year’s team. This year she was also the Cork Rose at the Rose of Tralee
Festival.
