First preference demand for MTU’s level 8 courses has risen by more than 26% since 2020. The increase in applications aligns with the relevance and quality of MTU’s portfolio of courses
Munster Technological University (MTU) has seen first preference applications for its courses rise by over 7% in 2023.
Across the entire CAO system, first preference trends for level 8 courses (or an honours degree as determined by the National Framework of Qualifications) have remained virtually unchanged in 2023 relative to the demand level seen in 2022. In contrast, MTU level 8 first preference level has risen by 7.16% and MTU’s level 7/6 first preference level has risen by 7.47% over this period. First preference demand for MTU’s level 8 courses has risen by more than 26% since 2020.
Professor Maggie Cusack, President of MTU, attributes MTU’s CAO performance to the relevance and quality of MTU’s portfolio of courses: “Reaching third level education is a huge achievement and at MTU we’re looking forward to welcoming our first years on campus in the coming weeks. Students are the heart of our university, and our goal is to help each and every one reach their potential personally and academically.
“The high interest in our CAO courses is a sign that students also want to excel professionally and we are one of the best placed universities in Ireland to help them do that. Most of our programmes include work placements, and many of our courses are designed in consultation with industry. This means that our students become highly qualified with the skills and experience to enter the workforce as soon as they graduate if they so wish,” Professor Cusack added.
With its six campuses spread across Cork and Kerry, MTU offers a dynamic range of full-time, part-time and blended courses designed to reflect the needs of students, employees, industry and the community. Further information about MTU’s full range of courses is available here. MTU also has a specially designed CAO Hub which provides a full range of resources for CAO applicants, parents, and their supporters.
Round two offers from the CAO will be issued on September 11th at 2pm.
