Cork South West Fine Gael T.D. and Minister of State at the Department of Health Jim Daly, has confirmed funding for the Ballinscarthy to Timoleague Walkway.
Speaking at this mornings announcement Minister Daly said, “my Government colleague Minister Ring confirmed to me directly that over €13,000 in funding has been allocated to develop and on-road walkway from Ballinscarthy to Timoleague.”
The €13,280 funding was announced as part of Measure 1 of the Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Scheme and will be used to develop the €16,000 on-road walkway from Ballinscarthy to Timoleague. This will include the purchasing and installation of suitable signage for the walkway along with the production of promotional material.
Concluding, Minister Daly also confirmed that an active application for phase two of the Clonakilty Greenway is before Minister Ring under Measure 2 of the Outdoor Recreational Infrastructure Scheme, which is due to be announced in the New Year. “It is anticipated that successful Measure 2 projects will be announced in the New Year which will is specifically for the upgrade and development of larger outdoor recreational infrastructural projects. The funding delivered through the Outdoor Recreational Infrastructural Scheme is vital for providing walking and cycling routes for our rural communities across West Cork.”
