Aircoach, Ireland’s leading private bus and coach operator took home the award for ‘Coach Operator of the Year – Airport Services at last night’s 2019 Fleet Bus & Coach Awards which celebrates excellence in the Irish Passenger Transport Industry.
Aircoach beat off stiff competition on the night at the awards ceremony, which took place in Johnstown Estate Hotel, Enfield. Employing over 270 full-time staff, Aircoach operates five key services connecting Dublin Airport with Dublin City Centre and its suburbs, as well as non-stop express services connecting Dublin Airport with both Cork and Belfast.
Founded in 1999, Aircoach is Ireland’s only bus company providing 24-hour service across its routes, with over 2.6 million passenger journeys, covering 5.5 million miles in 2018.
Commenting on the win, Dervla McKay, Managing Director of Aircoach said, “We are honoured to receive the award for ‘Coach Operator of the Year – Airport Services’ at the 2019 Fleet Bus & Coach Awards. This November, Aircoach celebrates 20 years in business which makes the win extra special. We pride ourselves on providing high frequency, quality scheduled coach services to and from Dublin City Centre and Dublin Airport and it’s fantastic to receive this recognition. At Aircoach, we are continually improving and advancing in order to provide the best possible service for our customers.”
Some of the reasons why Aircoach won this award are:
· It operates a 24-hour service, 7 days a week from Dublin Airport to Cork, Belfast and three Dublin routes
· It launched a new mobile-ticketing app allowing customers to pre-purchase their bus tickets in advance
· It invested €2.7 million this year in new state of the art vehicles
· It is also Ireland’s first bus and coach operator to introduce contactless payments on board their vehicles.
