The approval for a large extension project for Pobalscoil na Tríonóide in Youghal has been welcomed by Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Justice David Stanton. The additional accommodation has been sanctioned by the Department of Education and Skills to cater for the growing demand for places in this very popular secondary school.
“I am very pleased to hear Pobalscoil na Tríonóide has been given the go ahead to develop an additional 13 classrooms. This development will include general purpose classrooms, science laboratories, technology rooms and also an ASD unit all of which are needed to enable the school, which is the only second level school in Youghal, to meet future demand”, said Minister Stanton.
“Now that official approval has been granted, I understand that the school will begin the formal processes of finalising design, tendering and seeking planning permission for the development. I know that the school will be anxious to get the project underway as soon as possible.
“I would like to congratulate the Board of Management, Principal Séamus Ó Ceallacháin, staff and students, all of whom deserve credit for making the school such a success since the amalgamation of three Youghal secondary schools in 2006. I am confident that this extension will ensure that this success continues into the future”, concluded Minister Stanton.
