Marymount University Hospital & Hospice along with Cork Racecourse, Mallow are delighted to announce details of an exciting addition to Cork’s racing calendar this Summer on Saturday, August 17th.
Details of the raceday, which will see all funds going directly to Marymount were announced at the launch which took place on Thursday, May 24th in Marymount, Curraheen. The launch was attended by a host of familiar faces including well known jockey Danny Mullins and sporting legends Mick O’Driscoll, Larry Tompkins, Tomás Mulcahy, Teddy McCarthy, Tim O’Mahony, and Kevin Flahive.
The much anticipated attendee and star of the launch was 2003 Aintree Grand National winning horse Monty’s Pass who greeted residents as they reminisce on his famous win in the race.
The raceday is set to be a fantastic day out for everyone with Listed and Group 3 action as well as live music and family fun activities for the whole family throughout the day. There will also be some fantastic prizes up for grabs for the best dressed lady and best dressed man on the day with sponsors including Lee Travel and Louis Copeland & Sons.
All proceeds from August 17th will go directly to Marymount’s specialist community palliative care services. This vital service offers support to people who are living at home with a serious illness in Cork City and County and is completely free of charge, running seven days a week. As a result, Marymount heavily relies on donations to maintain these vital services that their palliative care nurses offer.
