Cork City Council is pleased to be supporting National Spring Clean 2019, organised by An Taisce, which will be taking place during the month of April.
Community and Residents Associations can get their bags and gloves by emailing wasteoperations@corkcity.ie, phoning 021- 4924299 or writing to Michael Sheehan, Administrative Officer, Litter Management, Room 234, City Hall, Cork. Please make sure to provide a contact name, address and telephone number when submitting your request, so that delivery of the bags and gloves can be arranged.
Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Mick Finn added his support for the initiative, saying:
“We are all aware of the great work of Tidy Towns and other committees who help keep our city clean and this is a chance for everybody to make a difference to their area. We have a beautiful city and if we all play a small role in keeping our own streets, estates, lanes, terraces and parks clean, it will be better for the entire city. Community efforts like this negate the actions of a tiny majority who are spoiling our city, but positive actions – such as those than can be taken during National Spring Clean month – will triumph. Keep it clean!”
National Spring Clean encourages people from all walks of life to take pride in their local environment and to take action against litter. The National Spring Clean campaign aims to promote personal responsibility for litter and heighten awareness of litter and waste issues.
Participating in the National Spring Clean campaign provides an opportunity to get involved with your local community and play an active role in improving and maintaining your local environment, by making it a cleaner and more enjoyable place to live.
