Local Fianna Fáil TD, Aindrias Moynihan has raised the very serious issue of traffic queueing for the off-ramps at Poulavane and Greenfields on the Ballincollig Bypass with the Minister for Transport, Shane Ross in the Dáil this week
“I raised this issue directly with the Minister during a Topical Issues Debate as I am deeply concerned at the level of traffic queuing that is taking place at present, cars essential trying to get off the bypass and having to queue along the bypass.
“It’s a major safety issue. The idea of cars queuing for several hundred metres while other cars zoom westwards past them at 120 km/hour is extremely dangerous.
“In the Dáil, I asked the Minister to seriously examine the possibility of an additional exit lane on the bypass. The daily traffic jams on the off-ramps merit such an examination.
“Now is the time to start the planning for such an addition as we know that large infrastructure projects take a long time to get up and running,” concluded Moynihan.
