The widely acclaimed creative team from Cork Opera House are returning this year with Aladdin. Following the success of last year’s Panto at Cork Opera House, we’re starting in November again this year and putting on a whopping 66 shows. Aladdin opens on the 30th of November and stretches into the New Year until the 20th of January. Book now to join us on this magic carpet ride with Aladdin, Jasmine and of course everyone’s favourite Nanny Nellie.
Cork Opera House CEO Eibhlín Gleeson says ‘Every year we work hard to bring you more magic and sparkle, and we love to see the audience react with wonder. We have gathered together an amazing creative team, cast and crew who together will create another world class production. We look forward to bringing you all on board a magic carpet ride; full of adventure. We are thrilled to see that a number of shows are almost sold out, showing that the people of Cork believe in the magic of our Panto and know that we’ll present something really fabulous again this year.’
Panto Director, Trevor Ryan, is delighted to be working with Cork Opera House again this year in creating something really special; ‘‘The story of Aladdin has all of the elements to create a wonderful panto – magic, adventure, love and of course a baddie. Add everyone’s favourite Nanny Nellie to the mix and we know we’ll have you on the edge of your seat as you join us on this epic adventure”
As well as co-writing the script with Trevor Ryan, Frank Mackey returns to the stage as the absolutely fabulous Nanny Nellie. Jasmine is played by the fantastically talented Kerry-native Caoimhe Garvey and our title hero Aladdin is played by Kian Zomorodian, both of whom star in their first Cork Opera House panto. Irish actor Barry Keenan has been cast as our Genie, and will be turning blue for the occasion! We’re also delighted to be bringing back some familiar faces, including Michael Grennell as Abanazar and the hilarious Adam Colbeck-Dunn is returning for his fifth Cork Opera House production, playing Wishee Washee. Joining them all on stage is a cast of fabulous professional dancers, musicians and the finest young talent drawn from Cork’s stage schools.
Don’t miss this spectacular Cork Opera House production of Aladdin, a tale of wonder and adventure. This show will be jam packed with magnificent scenery, lavish costumes, live music, dance routines, comedy and the magical special effects you’ve come to know and love! Continue your family panto tradition or start a new one, you do not want to miss this magical adventure so grab your ticket and jump on board, it’s all about to take off!
Cork Opera House are happy to announce that Aladdin will be safe in the hands of Aviva this year as they have come on board as title sponsor. Aladdin is being presented with the support of our proud media partners, Cork’s number 1 station, RedFM and our partner Greenes Restaurant.
