Oil Paintings by Cork Artist Patrick Cashin on exhibit at the Montenotte Hotel
An innovative programme to support Irish artists has been launched by boutique hotel, The Montenotte, this month. The new Artist in Residence programme will support local artists through an exhibition at the hotel, communications to visitors about the work of the artist and a stay at the hotel to find inspiration in the relaxed surroundings of the luxury city centre hotel in Cork. A collection of oil paintings by Patrick Cashin are now on exhibit at the Montenotte Hotel for guests and visitors to enjoy.
Speaking at the launch of the Artist in Residence programme, The Montenotte General Manager Brian Bowler said, “We are proud to support local artists while also bringing unique and interesting works of art to the hotel for our guests and visitors to appreciate. The programme is an interesting and ideal fit with our ethos of bringing unique offerings to our guests. These works of art add enormously to the hotel’s own art collection and will showcase new and exciting artists to our clientele.”
Born in New York, and now based in County Cork, Patrick Cashin has exhibited in London, New York, Sydney and Toronto. His paintings, which use the sea and coast for inspiration, depict the built structures which depict people’s engagement and presence within coastal terrain. The theme of the lighthouse is central to the current exhibition at the Montenotte Hotel, manifesting the mysterious presence and narrative of lighthouses in their own right. The most significant painting in this collection at the Montenotte is The Fastnet, which sees the depiction of this iconic lighthouse off the County Cork coast.
