The announcement comes with just five weeks to go until the tournament tips off on June 26th at the Mardyke Arena UCC, when Ireland senior women’s team will face off against Luxembourg, Norway and Cyprus in Group B. Reigning champions Malta, who pipped Ireland to the gold medal in 2016, will also compete, and will contest Group A alongside Gibraltar, Moldova and Denmark.
Speaking about the announcement today, Claire Myler, Director of Sales and Marketing at the River Lee Hotel stated:“We are delighted to be the official accommodation partner for the FIBA Women’s European Championship for Small Countries being held at the Mardyke Arena UCC this June. Supporting local events is a very important part of our culture at The River Lee Hotel.
“We acknowledge all the hard work that is involved in hosting such an event which I’m sure will give Cork, as a region, great exposure internationally and its success with assist greatly in securing future Sporting events for the city.”
