Fine Gael Senator, Tim Lombard, has welcomed the proposals put forward by Cork County Council for 50 unit residential developments in both Clonakilty and Skibbereen.
Senator Lombard said: “Cork County Council have proposed a residential development of 53 housing units located between Park Road and Western Road, Miles, Clonakilty, consisting of units varying from single to two storey, and 2 to 4 bed.
“It is satisfying to see these development plans also include renewable energy design measures for each of the housing units – it is positive to see today’s planning taking into account Ireland’s plans for a greener economy and environment.
“Cork County Council has also proposed plans for a residential development of 50 housing units located east and west of the Gortnaclohy Link Road in Skibbereen. These units would be primarily 2 or 3 bed houses with three 4 bed houses planned for, and access would be provided primarily from the link road, with 7 units being accessed directly from St. Fachtna’s Terrace.
“I am pleased to see these initiatives from Cork County Council; residential developments are a critical element of rebuilding Ireland and addressing the housing shortage, and it is great to see that the needs of rural Ireland are not being overlooked.”
