Fine Gael Cork South West TD and Minister of State at the Department of Health, Jim Daly, has confirmed that St. Brogans Secondary School in Bandon is to receive
extra accommodation.
Speaking on the matter Junior Minister Daly said, ‘The lack of accommodation for pupils in St Brogans has been brought to my attention on numerous occasions. My Government colleague Minister Bruton who visited the school with me recently has confirmed to me today that funding for interim accommodation has been approved to deal with the overcrowding issue while permanent accommodation is being built.’
In December St. Brogans was approved for four mainstream classrooms and two resource teaching rooms to reflect the increased numbers in the area, and now interim accommodation will be provided while the works are ongoing.
Concluding Junior Minister Daly said, ‘It is fantastic to see the growing success of St. Brogans and I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the hard work of the teachers which is directly contributing to its success’.
