Dunkettle Interchange
Site Investigation Works are well underway on the Dunkettle Interchange Site.
Site Clearance Works have progressed slightly quicker than anticipated and we now hope to complete under this heading by the end of February 2018.
Over the next few weeks the Works will become increasingly visible to passing motorists. By the middle of next week, we expect to be clearing the traffic island at the Bury’s Bridge “left in/left out” Junction, east of the Dunkettle Roundabout. This area will take a few days to clear and we will then Progress to the area north of the existing N25 immediately west of the Dunkettle Roundabout. No traffic lane closures will be required as a result of the upcoming works and we do not anticipate that the Works will cause any traffic disruption.
As noted in previous updates, the Site Clearance will be followed by Archaeological Investigation Works which will take 3-4 months to complete. We also hope to appoint the Main Works Contractor over the next few months with Offline Works then expected to get underway before the end of 2018. Further details to follow in future updates.
N40 Works
On the N40, Duct Installation Works are continuing, currently focused in the area between the Douglas Bridges and the Bloomfield Interchange. No daytime lane closures will arise as a result as these Works as all works requiring lane closures will be carried out under night-time working. Duct Installation Works in the N40 will continue for a number of months.
N8
Duct Installation Works are also required on the N8 from the Tivoli Roundabout east to the Silversprings flyover. These Broadband ducts will be installed on the northern side of the road with the Works expected to get underway early in March 2018. Traffic heading out from the city on the Tivoli dual-carriageway will have reduced lane widths in place but there will be no lane closures during peak times.
Irish Water are also proposing to carry out Watermain Repair Works in the Silversprings overbridge area over the coming period. Coffey Construction Ltd have been appointed to carry out these Works with the Contract getting underway from next Monday the 5th of February 2018. Pipe Laying Works are then Scheduled to get underway at Woodside from Monday the 12th of February 2018. The Pipeline Works will be off road initially with the crossing of the Lovers Walk Junction being done under night-time working. Watermain Installation Works on the N8 itself will be progressed in short sections with at least one lane being maintained for both incoming and outgoing traffic at all times.
The Watemain Works will continue as far as the entrance to Flemings restaurant and should reach completion by the June Bank Holiday Weekend. The Duct Installation element is expected to continue until July 2018 and both Contracts will be planned to ensure minimal traffic disruption particularly at peak times.
Roundabout Beautification
Works are underway at the Airport Roundabout and Works at the Halfway Roundabout.
