Duct Installation Works are continuing along the N40 Cork South Ring Road. Over the next couple of weeks, the Works will be concentrated on the area between Douglas East Overbridge and Bloomfield Interchange and we also intend to take advantage of upcoming tunnel maintenance closures to carry out Duct Installation Works between the Mahon Interchange and the Jack Lynch Tunnel. All Works are being carried out under night-time traffic management measures with a view to ensuring that there will be no traffic impact. No day time lane closures are planned on the N40 over the coming period.
From March 2018 Duct Installation Works will get underway on the N8 route between Dunkettle Roundabout and the Silversprings Overbridge. The Duct Installation Works here will be carried out on the northern side of the dual-carriageway and will continue until June 2018. Again, no daytime lane closures are planned although lane width restrictions will be in place for traffic outbound from the city for a number of weeks.
Over recent months Duct Installation Works have already been completed from the Dunkettle Interchange to the Lakeview Roundabout east of Midleton and from the Dunkettle Interchange to the Glanmire Interchange on the M8. This M8 section effectively completed the telecom link form Cork to Dublin. Over the coming months, in addition to the N40 and N8 Works, Duct Installation Works will also be undertaken on the N28 Cork to Ringaskiddy route, on the N27 Cork City to Cork Airport route and on the N71 Cork to Bandon route. Traffic measures associated with these Works will be circulated well in advance of the Works themselves.
