Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Health, Jim Daly, has today confirmed that almost 40 youth groups in West Cork will receive grants ranging from €1,000 to €5,000 for equipment.
Commenting on the announcement, Minister Daly said, ‘I am delighted to confirm that my Government colleague, Minister Zappone, has confirmed to me that over €135,000 will be made available to about 40 youth clubs in West Cork. This funding will benefit a range of Foróige, Scouts, Macra and Youth Clubs.’
Youth Groups such as Allihies Youth Clubs, Bandon Scout Group, Clonakilty Special Olympics and Kinsale Community Youth Café, will all benefit directly from the grants, which are readily available to ensure the groups have no delay.
Observing on the importance of youth groups Minister Daly said, ‘Youth groups play an extremely important part in our communities and in the development of our children and they are most deserving of these grants. These grants will go towards the purchase of equipment such as laptops, camping equipment and all other types of equipment they need for their group.’
Concluding Minister Daly said, ‘congratulations to all the groups and their volunteers who were successful in their application and best of luck to them for the future. It is important to support these groups in the work they do for our communities.’
