The Leader of Seanad Éireann, Senator Jerry Buttimer, has been selected by Fine Gael Members to contest the next General Election in Cork South Central.
At a Selection Convention held tonight (Wednesday)in the Rochestown Park Hotel, Senator Jerry Buttimer took another step in regaining a second seat for Fine Gael in the Cork South Central Constituency.
“I am delighted that once again I have been selected to contest the next General Election for Fine Gael in Cork South Central. I believe that a second Fine Gael seat here is very winnable. I have never shied away from hard work and I feel my record shows that. I am prepared, as ever, to win this second seat to secure a stable government for our country in this uncertain time.
“With sensitive Brexit negotiations ongoing, the only party that can be trusted with our economy is Fine Gael. I would be proud to work beside Minister Simon Coveney in making sure the benefits of our growing economy are felt fully in Cork.
“I am a passionate Cork person and I will once again be a strong and outspoken voice for this county in Dáil Éireann. Cork needs to be championed as a sustainable, yet complimentary counter balance to Dublin.
“I look forward to the challenge and to continuing my advocacy on behalf of the people of Cork in the Oireachtas.”
