The Marymount Hospice Ball – one of the highlight’s of the Cork Social Calendar – will celebrate its 11th Anniversary on Friday December 1st at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Little Island.
Last year while celebrating a milestone 10th anniversary the Marymount ball hit the €1 million fundraising mark, which is a tremendous achievement. This funding maintain the ongoing work the hospice provides in palliative and respite care to the sick and elderly.
The ball’s success over the last 10 years is due to all the sponsors and friends who have been loyal supporters year after year. The event get bigger and better with time, and most importantly, so too does the generation of funds.
Martin Kelleher, Chairperson of the ball committee, highlights the fact that it requires €2.2m each year to maintain the hospice services: “Marymount is renowned for its work with the elderly, but above all it stands out in people’s minds for the support and palliative care it provides for the sick and their families. There are so many families who will recall how Marymount and it nursing team helped them care for their loved ones. That is what drives us as a committee to ensure we raise funds to maintain this support and continues to drive the huge attendance levels each year by people who want to show their support and do their bit to help such a worthy cause”
The ball, which is set to be the first major Christmas event in Cork, continues to attract strong sponsorship from Cork Companies Musgrave, Keanes Jewellers, Midleton Distillery, Heineken and Morgan McKinley.
