The 2017 Christmas Cracker Cycle in aid of Marymount Hospice and supported by MSD is taking place on Saturday December 2nd at 8.30am to raise much-needed funds for Marymount Hopsice. This annual event will start and finish at Marymount Hospice at Curraheen, Co Cork.
Participants complete their preferred choice of a 6 m mini cracker for families, a 65km midi cracker or a 100km maxi cracker.
All participants are urged to wear something festive and/or add some Christmas decorations to their bikes. They are also asked to make a donation to the beneficiaries, Marymount & Laura Lynn Hospices.
You can register online at http://christmascrackercycle.eventbrite.ie – registration is donation only – in keeping with the spirit of the event. The family mini-cracker cycle will set off at 9.30 a.m. while the midi and maxi cracker cycles will set off at 10am. Participants may park their cars in the Hospice. Stewards will help guide participants and back-up vehicles will provide support throughout the day.
There will be prizes for best costume and most generous club as well as a free raffle for all entrants. Prizes will be presented after the cycle and complimentary festive refreshments will also be served.
“We would like to invite all cyclists to take part in this event to raise much-needed funds for our services,” said Paula McGovern, Head of Fundraising and Communications at Marymount. “The cycle is an important fundraiser for us – we need to raise at least €3 million each year to sustain our current level of services.”
