‘In Poetry of Cork’, is a new programme by LifeFM exploring the wealth of poetry from Cork County. Featuring work from both the past and present, each 5-minute episode will showcase a different poet, providing a short biographical note and carefully selected poetry to highlight their talents.
This programme will play twice every weekday from Monday the 20th of November to Friday the 1st of December at 12.10pm and 4.10pm
Poetry of Cork provides a window into the past by featuring the work of classic poets from County Cork including Thomas Davis, Edward Walsh, Jeremiah Joseph Callanan, Eibhlín Dubh Ní Chonaill and Edmund Spencer. It will also demonstrate the richness and variety of the present by showcasing poets now currently based in West Cork. Discover for yourself the wonderful work of modern day poets, Afric McGlinchey, Cormac Lally, David Jackson, Paul Ó Colmáin and Bernadette McCarthy
LifeFM and Cork County Council are proud to present Poetry of Cork, which was created by Cethan Leahy, whose radio programs The West Cork Ten, Across the Ocean in 18 Days: A True Adventure, The Price of Liberty and Tales from the Fairy Fort were aired on Cork’s 93.1 LifeFM.
This project is supported by the Creative Ireland Programme, an all-of-Government five-year initiative, from 2017 to 2022, which places creativity at the centre of public policy. Further information from creative.ireland.ie and ireland.ie.
