The confirmation by An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar that funding will be provided for advanced planning and design of the M20 Cork / Limerick Motorway is warmly greeted by all involved in the construction industry in the Munster Region.
“CIF, along with all other business groups, have been campaigning for a number of years for progress on Ireland’s most strategically important regional infrastructural project” stated Conor O’Connell, Regional Director, CIF.
“This motorway is a vital link in the creation of an Atlantic Economic Corridor which will enhance the growing complementary counterbalance to the Dublin Region between Cork and Limerick Cities”. The project itself will see many more opportunities for construction and development in the region.
Other positive comments by the Taoiseach at this morning’s breakfast briefing, hosted by Cork Chamber in Páric Uí Chaoimh, included likely commencement dates for the Dunkettle Interchange and N22 Macroom Bypass both of which are likely to commence construction in 2019.
These projects combined will create and sustain many hundreds of construction jobs but will also see the wider region enhance its connectivity and ability to grow further.”
