When: ‘Feast’ events run from 4th to 10th September
Cork East Fine Gael TD and Minister of State at the Department of Justice, David Stanton has congratulated all those involved in the official launch and fundraising event of ‘Feast’ – East Cork Food and Drink Festival. The event was held in the Jameson Experience and featured a four course meal with drinks and music.
“This year marks the 15th year of the very successful food and drink festival in Midleton. The popularity of this event has grown year on year and it attracted over 30,000 visitors last year. This year the festival has been renamed as ‘Feast – East Cork Food and Drink Festival’ to connect with its timing at the start of harvest season and to strengthening its identity at regional and national level.”
“The East Cork region boasts excellent agricultural land and has a strong culture of food and drink production. The launch event showcased some of the excellent food available from some of our fine local restaurants with courses provided by the Farm Gate, Ferrit & Lee, Sage and the Malthouse with a Jameson cocktail on arrival. Music was by local musician Sean Kelleher.
“This year’s festival will run from September 4th to 10th with the Street Food Festival being held on Saturday 9th September. More fringe events will also take place this year including many across East Cork thus expanding the festival to the entire East Cork area. I am sure that given the quality of last night’s event and the support from the East Cork community, this year’s event will attract even more visitors to the area.
“I would encourage anyone interested in becoming involved with the event or seeing what this year’s ‘Feast’ festival has to offer to visit the new website www.feastcork.ie
