Minister for State Jim Daly has today confirmed that progress is being made on the N71 Leap road surfacing. A long outstanding issue for the community, the end is now in sight as a timeframe has now been established for the works.
Commenting on the issue, Minister Daly said, ‘following my regular updates with Cork County Council, I have been informed that the resurfacing works in Leap are still a priority for the Council. It is my understanding that the tender for the works is due to be issued in early September with works expected to commence in late October.’
Today’s confirmation of the works follows on from Minister Daly’s announcement of funding for the works last April. The Minister describes the N71 resurfacing works as a priority issue for him, ‘from speaking to people in Leap on a weekly basis, this issue is constantly being raised with me and I want to ensure people that I will continue my work on this until the works are carried out’.
