Cork City WFC travel to Ferrycarrig Park today looking to get their third
win in a row as they face current league leaders Wexford Youths WFC in the Continental
Tyres Women’s National League.
The game comes on the back of a 5-3 victory for Cork City WFC with 2 goals for Clare Shine and
Evelyn Daly and a goal for Maggie Duncliffe. City will hope for a repeat of their last meeting with
Wexford where City came out on top 4-1.
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s clash Cork City WFC manager Frank Kelleher said; “We travel to
Wexford this weekend for a tough encounter. The last time we played them we got a good result.
They have gone on a great run since then and are top of the league. They have also strengthened
their squad and have players returned from injury. We have also strengthened and this should be a
very competitive game. We have been in good form recently and have a lot to play for in this
fixture. I believe that we must continue to perform at the highest level each week to guarantee
success. We are confident that if we play to our potential we can compete against Wexford.”
City have no injury concerns going into Saturday’s game.
Cork City WFC’s postponed game against UCD Waves has been rearranged for Wednesday 2nd of
August at Bishopstown with a 7.30 kick off.
