Blackrock based local Area Representative for the Labour Party Peter Horgan has welcomed confirmation that Pairc Ui Chaoimh will open and host the All Ireland Quarter Finals.
“The State investment in this project is not insignificant at €30 million and was approved by my colleague, Labour Party Leader Brendan Howlin, in the last Government,” said Mr Horgan.
“It is a vital piece of infrastructure for Cork and the wider Munster region not only in GAA terms. I know many traders were disappointed at the News that the Munster Finals would not proceed but this confirmation of the All Ireland Quarter Finals will be welcomed. I hope that the County Board will continue to engage and liaise in a proactive manner with residents locally to avert any issue that may arise.”
Mr Horgan urged all stakeholders to convene meetings as soon as possible in order to identify traffic management issues and transportation matters for the event, which will attract big crowds.
“There are challenges and opportunities for this next chapter of Cork’s stadium. It is funded not just for the GAA but for all the people of Cork.”
