Cork based Sinn Féin spokesperson on Children and Youth Affairs Donnchadh Ó Laoghaire TD has expressed his sympathies and condolences to Minister Katherine Zappone on the sad loss of her wife Dr Ann Louise Gilligan.
Speaking this morning, Teachta Ó Laoghaire said;

“Dr Ann Louise Gilligan, made an extraordinary contribution to Irish Society, as an activist, an educationalist, and in the area of Community Development.
“Dr Gilligan, taught at St Patrick’s College, Drumcondra and at DCU, and together with Minister Zappone, she was a cofounder of An Cosán, a further education and Community Development Centre in Jobstown, Tallaght West.
“She was someone who fought for justice and equality, in particular in the areas of Marriage Equality, and Educational Disadvantage.
“I extend my sincerest sympathies and the sympathies and condolences of my Party to Minister Katherine Zappone on her sad loss.”
