Housing Minister Simon Coveney to unveil long awaited Mackinnon Report this morning
All will be revealed at 11am when Minister Coveney unveils the report which had been due to be published two months ago, but had to wait until after the Fine Gael leadership contest concluded evidently. It is expected that the report will recommend keeping two separate local authorities, with a boundary extension for the City Council – the first since 1965.
If this happens it would boost the finances of the City Council by taking in more business rates, however it would conversely take away rate income from the larger and more financially sound County Council.
