Ireland’s Government Party (in coalition) ‘Fine Gael’ are holding an internal leadership contest. Whoever wins will also become Taoiseach (Prime Minister) of Ireland
Simon Coveney’s Director of Elections, Minister Damien English T.D. this afternoon welcomed the support the Fine Gael Councillors in Cork and Kerry where it “is clear”, he said, that 28 of the 31 Councillors across both counties are backing Coveney in the Fine Gael Leadership contest.
“This is a significant endorsement from the Councillors in Simon’s home and neighbouring county. We are delighted with their support and look forward to a strong showing across other blocks of County Council votes” he concluded.
