Cork Senior Footballers Mark Collins, Tomás Clancy and Ian Maguire, along with Senior Hurler Conor Lehane, joined Ruairi O’Connor, General Manager of the River Lee Hotel at the launch of the Lee Valley Golf Classic in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research.
The Lee Valley Golf Classic will take place on Friday, 26 May with funds raising going towards cancer research into poor prognosis cancers. The annual event takes place at the Lee Valley Golf & Country Club and promises to attract even more golfers this year.
Organiser Sean Ryan, is looking forward to the event and states, “Every year, this Golf Classic gets fantastic support from golfers and businesses here in Cork. The Lee Valley golf course, with its unique design and challenging Parklands-type setting, is the perfect setting for the event. Over €12,000 was raised last year for cancer research and this year we’re asking everyone to swing in support of cancer research so we can raise more vital funds for cancer research”.
Limited tee times are available for teams of three at €250, which includes green fees, a delicious meal in the clubhouse, goodie bag and the chance to win some fantastic prizes, courtesy of the event sponsor The River Lee Hotel. Tee box sponsorship opportunities are also available for €100 per tee box.
Mr Ryan continued, “We would like to take this opportunity to thank our main sponsor The River Lee Hotel and the kind support of Janssen Pharmaceutical, Quish’s Supervalu Ballincollig, Snap Cork Crawford Hall, all of our tee box sponsors, and all of the teams who take part on the day, without whom this golf classic would not be possible”.
Speaking about the event Ruairi O’Connor, General Manager of The River Lee Hotel, states, “The River Lee is delighted to get involved as sponsor of the event again this year. Over the last few years, the golf classic has raised much needed funds for Breakthrough and we look forward to seeing what this year will bring!”
