Fine Gael Cork based Senator, Tim Lombard, has welcomed the co-option of John O’Sullivan to Cork County Council at a Co-Option Selection Convention held on Friday at the Parkway Hotel in Dunmanway, West Cork. The Convention was held to fill a vacancy that arose in the West Cork Municipal District following the resignation of Cllr. Noel O’Donovan from Cork County Council earlier this year.
“I am delighted to welcome Cllr. John O‘Sullivan back into the fold of Cork County Council, to fill the vacancy left by Noel O’Donovan who stood down earlier this year to take on a new role with An Garda Síochána.
“Noel was conscientious and showed great dedication in his role as a County Councillor and I have no doubt he will prevail in his pursuit of a career in the Gardaí, with which I wish him well.
“As former Deputy Mayor, John O’Sullivan is well equipped to take on this role. He served for five years as a County Councillor acquiring great knowledge and experience throughout. I have every confidence in his integrity, his understanding of the system, and his ability to be an effective Councillor once again.
“Fine Gael in Government requires steady, knowledgeable and reliable people at all levels of the Party, working to serve their communities. I have no doubt that Cllr. John O’Sullivan fits the bill in this regard. I wish John and his wife Deirdre all the best entering this new phase, confident in the capabilities John brings with him to make positive contributions to Cork County.”
