Autumn is well under way now and you may be tempted to swap the running shoes for thermal socks, but stay focused, keep up your active lifestyle, and join in on the fun in West Cork on December 3rd for The Clonakilty Waterfront Marathon VII.The route is a stunning testing course with ocean views and gentle hills.
Registration is open until November 22nd for this end of season race, in the friendly seaside town of Clonakilty. Set at an ideal date to test your limits – the Clonakilty Waterfront offers distances for all levels and ages: 10K, Half Marathon and the Full Marathon. The Clonakilty Marathon offers top class services for participants including a tec top, race certificate, chip timing, plentiful water stations, energy stations for full marathon runners, free massages, free use of shower, sauna, and pool, at the Quality Hotel, music, a great atmosphere and lots, lots more. Each year, the marathon organisers design unique cast medals acknowledging inspirational people and their achievements in their fields. This year is exceptional and four incredible human beings will feature on the finish medals; honouring the first woman to ever run the Boston Marathon (1966) Bobbi Gibb, on her 50th anniversary of finishing; the inspirational Boston Marathon bombing survivor Adrianne Haslett; world marathon record holder Paula Radcliffe, and Boston Marathon winner 1968 and Runners World Editor at Large since 1978 Amby Burfoot. Join Amby, Bobbi and Adrianne for a free discussion event at 6pm at the Quality Hotel, on Friday 2nd December as they chat about their own achievements; then join them at the starting line on 3rd December to kick off a truly spectacular event.
