Transatlantic flights from Cork further enhances city’s connectivity
Cork South Central TD, Micheál Martin has welcomed the announcement by Icelandic airline WOW Air that it will begin transatlantic flights to both East and West coast America from Cork International Airport.
“This is a fantastic new development for the airport, and especially for potential transatlantic passengers from the Cork, and Munster, areas.”
“Any proposal that brings additional capacity to the airport, and better choice and service to passengers must be welcomed,” added Martin.
“Announcements like this further demonstrates the potential of Cork Airport, and helps to protect jobs in the region.”
“In addition, the additional flights from Reykjavik will be a major boon to Cork’s tourism community, bringing a vital new source of revenue to our city and region.”
“The management of the airport deserve credit for securing this announcement by WOW Air. There are many airports competing for this type of investment, and this announcement is proof again that Cork is a great place to live, work, and visit,” concluded Martin.
