Local Fianna Fáil TD, Michael Martin has today welcomed the decision by An Bord Pleanála to give approval to the expansion of Apple’s European HQ in Cork that will bring an additional 1000 jobs to the Cork region.
“This is a fantastic day for Cork. An extra 1000 high quality, well paying jobs for local people is prove-positive of the potential in, and around Cork City, for both large multinationals and local, indigenous enterprises,” said the Cork South Central TD.
“Bringing the total workforce to over 6000 by mid 2017, this expansion will support job creation in the local economy. Research, undertaken by the IDA, has shown that for every 10 jobs created by Foreign Direct Investment; an additional four jobs are created in local enterprises.”
“Fianna Fail is committed to supporting companies such as Apple to continue to expand their operations in Ireland, and enabling local businesses grow on the back of their investments,” concluded Martin.
