The Kilkenny native put pen to paper at Bishopstown this morning,.
“I am delighted to sign; this is my third time joining and hopefully this time will be the successful one! I am here for one reason and that is to hopefully go on and win the league. I know how strong the first team and the squad is, and anything I can add to that is a bonus for me.”
“I probably know all of the lads from playing against them, while I would have played with some of them as well. As a club, we want to win the league but, from a personal point of view, I want to help the squad as much as I can; it’s a very strong first eleven and I know I am not going to be playing every week, but I want to get as much game time as I can.”
City boss John Caulfield said he was pleased to have Mulcahy on board, saying: “As everyone can see, we have had an issue in defence with injuries and, over the last month or so, we have only had four fit defenders available. We had a number of players in on trial but we found that a lot of them were not at the standard or at the required fitness level, so to get Dave, a man who has played every week for Bohs, at this stage, is great.”
“He is well-used to the league, he’s a great leader and a great motivator and a super defender who can play in a number of positions. He gives us a lot of options, particularly as we are going to have three matches a week going forward. To bring in a player who can slot straight into our team and our squad, and that is very important. We have a lot of games coming up and we needed someone who could come in and play straight away. We have a fantastic spirit in the squad and you need someone who will integrate into the group straight away, and I know Dave is really looking forward to it.”
