Wayne Lloyd Hair founder and owner, Wayne Lloyd swept the board at the ‘BEST of the BEST Irish Photographic Hair Awards’ held on Sunday, June 26th at the Mansion House in Dublin, picking up a phenomenal six awards, including the title of ‘Ireland’s BEST Hairdresser 2016’.
Now in their 19th year, these annual awards encompass all that is the best in Irish hairdressing, giving stylists and salons nationwide an opportunity to show their creative expertise and technical excellence through professional photography.
Wayne won ‘Best Commercial’ image for his commercially styled salon hairstyle; ‘Best Black and White’ image; ‘Best Fashion’ image, which was a 3/4 length ladies image reflecting current trends; and ‘Best Intercoiffure’ image; while his team walked away with the title of ‘Best Artistic Team’ for a collection of three themed images accompanied by explanation behind the collection.
In order to be chosen for the overall winner award as ‘Ireland’s BEST Hairdresser’ Wayne had to be a finalist in at least three categories, and his win in many more than this put him poll position for the crown.
Leading stylist, Wayne has 30 years hairdressing experience, and is the owner of three salons in Ballydehob, Bandon, and his latest venture on Washington Street, Cork City, which opened at the end of 2014. No stranger to awards, this is the second time Wayne has been named ‘Ireland’s BEST Hairdresser’, having also won in 2011. This adds to a number of other accolades the salon has already picked up this year including Aaron Healy being named ‘Ireland’s Best Stylist’ and Zhyna Williams being named ‘Irish Trainee Stylist of the Year’.
Wayne and his team of 35 have also won a number of other prestigious awards including ‘Ireland’s Best Stylist’ in 2013, ‘Global Stylist of the Year’ 2009 and 2010; ‘World’s Best Stylist’ in 2007; ‘Munster Hairdresser of the Year’ in 2015; and ‘Irish Trainee Stylist of the Year’ five times.
Wayne expressed his delight at his win saying “The ‘BEST of the BEST Irish Photographic Hair Awards’ are a highlight of Irish hairdressing industry calendar, so I am delighted to have walked away with so many wins, especially the title of ‘Ireland’s Best Hairdresser 2016’. These awards really demonstrate the creative and artistic work that I enjoy so much and am very proud of.
