A planned new €200m investment into the development of a number of data centres in Little Island is a “game changer” in Cork’s foreign direct investment (FDI) possibilities.
JCD Group has confirmed their plans to build the data centres as part of the redevelopment of the former Mitsui Denman site in Inchera in Little Island. Planning permission is expected in a matter of weeks to transform the 32 acre site into a technology campus with over 275,000 sq. ft. of state of the art data centre accommodation.
The development will involve upwards of €200m in investment and is expected to create 150 new jobs as well as up to 200 jobs during construction. The first data centre is expected to be completed by mid 2017.
The President of Little Island Business Association William Cuddy welcomed the news for Little Island and said “we are delighted to see JCD Group coming to Little Island with this highly innovative plan for the former Mitsui Denman facility and it once again highlights the key strategic location that Little Island is to Cork and Ireland South. This will no doubt result in additional companies seeing Cork as their perfect location for their future development”
