Musician, singer, recording artist, actor and raconteur Finbar Furey is a living legend of Irish music. He sold out Ballymaloe Grainstore two years ago, so he is returning with his band on Bank Holiday Sunday 5 June.
Finbar tours extensively, bringing his rare talents to a world-wide stage and treating audiences to evenings of pure Irish magic, great music, good humour, and sparkling wit. He achieved fame as lead singer/frontman of The Furey Brothers and Davey Arthur. He has a unique pedigree: An All-Ireland Uillean Pipe Champion and whistle player, singer/songwriter as well as playing five-string banjo, and guitar.
Following the release of several chart topping albums and EPs, including The Wind and The Rain (1997), Chasing Moonlight (2003) and Colours (2012), Finbar appeared on RTE’s music show, The Hit, in 2013. His single, The Last Great Love Song, topped the Irish charts and introduced Finbar to a whole new generation of fans.
2015 was a busy year for one of the great Irish performing artists. He keeps going from strength-to-strength, having completed a four-week German tour, a sold-out show at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre, and successful tours in South Africa and the US. Finbar also received the Keys to Dublin City in 2015.
As an actor Finbar has appeared in Love/Hate on RTE, Martin Scorsese’s Gangs of New York, Adam and Paul, and Strength and Honour. He recently featured on the RTE series For One Night Only with Gay Byrne.
