Ireland South MEP Deirdre Clune has welcomed comments by EU Commissioner Violeta Bulc on an official visit to Washington DC where she reiterated Europe’s concern regarding Norwegian Air International (NAI) pending request for a foreign air carrier permit from the U.S. authorities.
“I have spoken to the Commissioner’s office this morning. I welcome the fact that she has seized the opportunity to reiterate the Commission’s concerns regarding Norwegian Air International (NAI) whilst on a visit to the White house and the US State Department.
“Commissioner Bulc said that we need a united EU-US front to decarbonise aviation and allow our respective aviation companies to grow sustainably and tap into new emerging markets. She reiterated her hopes that actions will rapidly be taken to ensure compliance with the EU-US Air Transport Agreement and that we may arrive at a positive outcome for both parties. She told the US administration that the EU is seriously considering all available options to swiftly solve the issue and I welcome and support those comments.
