Uniting kayaking and film, we are delighted to introduce an exciting new Workshop/Competition to the Fastnet Film Festival in May, in association with Fáilte Ireland, Atlantic Sea Kayaking and Oakwood Aerial Photography.
Film from a kayak along the most enchanting and culturally rich coastal touring route in the world, the new West Cork Blueway. You’ll find magic, adventure, history and beauty in abundance.
This day-long workshop will take place in late April to take into account weather conditions and give time for editing.
Teams of 2 are invited to take part, one filming and one kayaking. All necessary kayak and safety equipment will be provided and a full safety briefing given. The morning session will familiarise participants with the activity and the location, followed by lunch. The afternoon session will allow for filming from the kayak on the water.
Each participating team is asked to produce up to 3 minutes of film. All 10 films will be screened at the Fastnet Film Festival in May. The winning film will be screened at the Award Ceremony on Sunday night 29th of May and the winning team will receive a cheque for €500.
Films will be judged on cinematography, editing, storytelling and creativity.
This unique adventure will be captured by Oakwood Aerial Photography using the most sophisticated aerial drones. This footage will also be screened at the festival.
Cost per person €100-
