Fine Gael TD for Cork South West Jim Daly has welcomed confirmation from Cork County Council that 14 houses located at Coronea, Skibbereen, Co Cork are to be finally offered connection to the public sewage collection system in Skibbereen.
This move follows years of ongoing requests from the residents of the area and stems back to a shortfall of funding to complete the new state of the art collection system in the town. “When that project ran over budget something had to be cut back and unfortunately for the residents at Coronea it was this leg of the system which was not constructed at the time” said Jim Daly TD.
Mr Daly said “Cork County Council have now confirmed that they will be making contact with the affected residents of the area in the coming weeks to discuss the project. The Council are willing to construct the extension provided all houses in the area will connect to the new line. Waving the connection fee is also being considered for the residents so the only cost they will incur is the cost of bringing out the pipe from their house to the main road.”
Jim Daly concluded by saying he wanted to thank his colleague Cllr. Noel O’Donovan who worked diligently on the matter and that it was his hope that all residents in the area would agree to connect to the scheme, otherwise it will not go ahead.
