As part of an operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Cork City area, Gardaí from the Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit assisted by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau have seized cannabis resin with an estimated value of €126,000, pending analysis.
Cannabis resin was seized following the stop and search of two cars at Skehanagh, Watergrasshill, County Cork yesterday afternoon, Friday 12th February 2016 shortly before 2pm.
Three men, aged 41, 51 and 59 years, were arrested at the scene and were detained at Gurranabraher and Mayfield Garda Stations under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking), Act, 1996.
The men aged 41 and 51 were charged in connection with this investigation, released from Garda custody and are due to appear before Cork District Court on Wednesday, 17th February 2016 at 10.30am. The 59 year old man was released from Garda custody without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
A fourth man, 30 years, was arrested in North Dublin and detained at Finglas Garda Station under Section 2 of The Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking), Act 1996. He has since been released from Garda custody without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Part of the cannabis seizure was discovered in a follow up search of a premises in Gurranabraher, Cork City.
