The road between Bandon and Kilbrittain, in West Cork will reopen to traffic this afternoon (12th Feb).
The road was one of the worst hit in Co Cork by flood damage.
Sections were worn away by the velocity of water during the storms of late December / early January.
Cork South West General Election Candidate Cllr Alan Coleman (Independent) welcomed the news:
“Even though works are not fully complete I commend the Council workers on getting the road back open to traffic today alleviate inconvenience to the residents of the area”
Cllr Alan Coleman continued:
“I have maintained strong direct contact with the Cork County Council Chief Executive and Local Engineer on this matter,
I look forward to the road being fully completed in the coming weeks. I empathise with the residents who have had to travel longer distances from their homes during the closure”
Works will be fully completed in the coming weeks.
