‘Juno and the Paycock’ will be performed at the Everyman Theatre Cork.
Written by Sean O’Casey, and directed by Ger Fitzgibbon the production stars Michael Sands, Regina Crowley, Jack Healy, George Hanover, Fionula Linehan, Dominic McHale, Tadhg Dennehy, Emma Willis, Tommy Harris, Patrick Cregan, Fiona Kelly, Eoin O’Reilly, Sarah Clerkin, Rebecca McCarthy.
Running from February 10th – 20th, The Everyman revivies O’Casey’s tragicomedy of Juno and her peacocking husband in the city’s own idiom. Director Ger Fitzgibbon takes the play out of Dublin and imagines that it was set right in the very heart of Cork city.
Meet the Boyles: a hilarious, drunken father; a ferociously loyal mother; a wounded son; and a daughter with “notions”.
Theirs is a family beset by poverty and war but offered the tantalising promise of sudden riches. How that happens and how they react to it is at the core of this wonderful tragicomedy, O’Casey’s funniest and most moving exploration of humour, politics, laughter and impoverished heartbreak.
