Gardaí in Bantry are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Durrus, West Cork this morning.
At approximately 1.55am a 63-year-old male pedestrian was seriously injured when he was struck by a 4×4 vehicle on Kilcrohane Road (L4704), Durrus. He was treated at the scene where he was pronounced dead a short time later. His body has since been removed to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The coroner has been notified.
The road was closed to traffic earlier today with local diversions in place. The scene has been examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
