Award winning chef and owner of the acclaimed Les Gourmandises Restaurant, Pat Kiely and his wife Soizic will hold a cookery demonstration at Fota Island Resort on Thursday, February 4th in aid of the Mercy Kids + Teens Appeal.
Guests will also be treated to a prosecco reception and canapes on arrival at 7pm, and everyone will receive a complimentary goody bag to take home. Each course will be paired with complementary wine selections, wine expert Nicolas Sicot from O’Brien’s Wines, Douglas, will be on hand to discuss each selection.
Proceeds from a raffle and a portion of ticket sales will go to The Mercy Kids + Teens Appeal. When a child is ill, it is vital that that they and their parents and siblings have access to the best care, facilities and support. Funds raised through the cookery demo on February 4th will be invested in critical areas of paediatric services at The Mercy University Hospital.
€36,000 is required to fund Bereavement Counselling and other support services. Many children are affected by the death of a parent or sibling and require Bereavement Counselling and other support services; while, for many other children and young people with long term illnesses their education can be affected and the Mercy Hospital Foundation provides support through the hospital Social Work Department to enable many of these children to continue their education following their illness.
Chef Pat Kiely, who was named the 2012 ‘Best Chef in Cork’ by the Restaurant Association of Ireland, will prepare sumptuous dishes from his menu at the event. He said “As Les Gourmandises is synonymous with Cork, so is The Mercy, and we’re proud to support the Mercy Kids + Teens Appeal. We have a great evening in store for guests who join us on Thursday, February 4th when we’ll be cooking, creating, and giving tips on dishes that everyone will be able to recreate themselves at home, either for their family or for a dinner party, using seasonal and local fresh produce. The dishes will be delicious, and as the inspiration for them will come from French recipes there will be a distinct French flare shining throughout.”
Michelle Murphy, Corporate and Events Fundraiser at the Mercy Hospital Foundation said “Our mission is to inspire people to support advancements in research, diagnosis, treatments and care of patients at The Mercy University Hospital, the People’s Hospital. We promise to do our very best to provide you with a world class hospital, right on your doorstep, and this is only possible through the help of our supporters and donors like Pat and Soizic from Les Gourmandises, and those who join them for what promises to be a great night in Fota Island Resort on February 4th.”
Tickets are priced at €55 and are available from Les Gourmandises Restaurant, located at 17 Cook Street, Cork City or by calling 021 4251959.
