The Minister for Health Leo Varadkar and Minister for Jobs Richard Bruton today announced €5 million in funding over five years for a Health Innovation Hub in UCC.
The Hub, which is based in UCC, provides a link between the health service and industry to develop new products and services, which can then be used to improve our own health service and sell products at home and abroad.
It has already shown its value and has supported 23 projects and fostered a number of innovative healthcare products and services since it was set up on a pilot basis in 2012.
Cork South Central Government TD Jerry Buttimer (Fine Gael) told TheCork.ie:
“This hub is good for businesses, the health service, and job-creation. It has massive potential for Ireland’s healthtech sector, and for improving healthcare services and outcomes for patients.”
