Greyhound Racing in Cork received an extra boost today with the announcement that GAIN Dog Food have committed to sponsoring the event formerly known as the Guinness Trophy A1 Stake at Curraheen Park.
This stake is one of the oldest in the greyhound racing calendar and is in now in its 53rd year. The newly branded event will be called the ‘’GAIN CUP 2016’’. The stake is set to begin on Saturday 23rd January with the final on 13th February. This 36 dog stake offers €3,000 to the winner and a trophy on the night of the final.
“We are looking forward to a great night, with a first class race card on the final night here at Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium. It’s great to see GAIN committing further to the greyhound racing industry as this event now joins their other key events such as the Corn Cuchulainn, The Cesarewitch, GAIN Select Stakes, GAIN 600 & The GAIN Christmas Oaks”
said Frank O’Meara, Sales, Commercial and Operations Manager at Curraheen Park.
