Sinn Féin President Gerry Adams TD will visit Cork this Thursday, and is expected to face questions about his tenure.
A large media presence will be attracted following speculation in the Sunday Independent over the weekend that Mr Adams may step down as party leader before the upcoming General Election.
However, the Louth TD said in a statement to that paper: “The Sunday Independent’s persistent vitriolic presentation of Sinn Féin is nothing new, and their crass attempts to suggest that I will step down as party president in advance of a general election are simply untrue.
The stated purpose of Mr Adam’s visit to Cork includes launching the General Election of a local County Councillor Donnchadh Ó’Laoghaire. That public event will take place this Thuesday (14th) at 7.30pm in the Rochestown Park Hotel.
