Cork City Fire Department is re-launching their Community Fire Safety vehicle on Monday November 30th 2015 outside the Cork City Council Civic Offices at 11.00am. Modifications have been done to the vehicle to improve its capacity to deliver Community Fire Safety Messages. The addition of a digital screen on the top of the vehicle will provide safety messages and videos.
The vehicle will be officially re-launched by Lord Mayor Chris O’Leary. On the day a fire crew will be giving Christmas Fire Safety Advice. They will also be giving members of the public an opportunity to test out smoke goggles which simulate how it feels to be in a smoke filled room. They can also practice their fire extinguishing skills with our fire extinguisher training kit.
Members of An Garda Siochana will be in attendance as we will be promoting “Cork Kerry Winter Ready” Campaign. This is a partnership media awareness campaign supported by Cork City Council, Cork County Council, Kerry County Council , Health Service Executive South and An Garda Siochana. It is intended to develop and raise awareness in organisations and communities throughout both counties on the importance of Winter Readiness. It mirrors the national programme launched earlier this month by the Office of Emergency Planning and will run throughout the winter months.
