Sinn Féin has responded to the resignation of Councillor Ger Keohane.
A party spokesperson said;
“We are disappointed that Councillor Keohane has decided to leave Sinn Féin.
“He was a valued member of our team on Cork County Council.
“We are particularly surprised given the fact that he sought the Sinn Féin nomination to contest the forthcoming General Election in Cork North Central at a convention two weeks ago.
“The party has offered to meet with Councillor Keohane to discuss any issues that he might have.”
